Here we have our 1971 Dixon built ex fishing vessel.
“New Aquarius” Ex NN92, was built by Dixons of Exmouth in 1971 for the Gillam family as a multipurpose commercial fishing vessel.
Built on a huge sawn oak frame & carvel planked in larch, these vessels were well known for their exceptional sea keeping qualities and proved very successful for the owners / skippers of that time, there are in fact many still fishing today.
We bought her from Gosport 3 years ago, as the owners at the time, were retiring from commercial fishing and as a Fisherman myself, I was specifically looking for a vessel of this class to restore as a family day boat / fun boat / picnic boat etc.
During our ownership we have completely gutted cleaned out and painted her inside & out.
She has had a complete new foredeck, new cappings, new oak rubbing strake all around, new oak stern posts & lge wheelhouse, all fitted by Traditional Sail , Boat builders in Salcombe. We have also replaced the after deck completely , 1/2” marine ply with all joints lapped & glued, screwed to original aft deck beams with stainless screws, then 2 coats of epoxy sealer then overlaid with full length 22mm iroko and payed with tds.
I could go on & on but please feel free to ask any question if seriously interested.
We have a 6 cylinder ford 120hp included in sale but not fitted.
Loads of invoices pictures history etc.
Price is only a fraction of work/ materials etc but unfortunately , due to new job commitments and less available time we are testing the water so to speak.
All materials used have been top quality, Douglas fir, oak, iroko, proper marine ply, glues, 316 stainless screws, bolts etc.
